As 2025 starts, and we look back at the last 6 months we’re reflecting on an incredible year of growth, engagement, and impact for the RISING Community program. In the last two terms of 2024, we have been able to work with a number of schools in the south-west corridor, taking our total to 10 schools consistently for the last two terms, increasing our overall school engagement massively compared to 2023. We have been from Villanova College all the way south to Hills International College and west to Laidley State High.

Our home base at Totally Workwear Stadium has continued to play a pivotal role in offering students an immersive experience, with more schools making the trip to the facilities to celebrate their achievements throughout the last two terms. Including Bundamba SSC, Hills International College, Goodna SS and Laidley State High, with students provided with the ultimate experience of life at the Brisbane Tigers. The venue has been a hub for fostering aspirations in professional sport, and provided workshops and activities designed to inspire and connect students to each other while also pushing them to see who they are and what it means to be a part of a team environment.

In term 3, we were lucky enough to engage in a range of events at schools and in the community, including the Goodna Gala Day, St James Career Expo, Ferny Grove NAIDOC Day and Laidley NAIDOC day. The St James Career Expo provided students from grades 7 – 12 an opportunity to engage with specific professionals in certain career fields that they might be interested in or want to join post their schooling career. Whereas both the Ferny Grove NAIDOC Day and Laidley NAIDOC day celebrated our Indigenous Australians in two great days for students and all who attended.

In term 4, we attended a range of events for schools and the community, including the Murri School’s Year 6 Graduation, Goodna Gala Day and the Bundamba Football Clinic. We were privileged to take part in the Murri School’s Year 6 Presentation Day, celebrating the achievements of young Indigenous students as they transition to high school. It was an inspiring day that underscored the importance of recognising milestones and fostering pride in these students’ achievements.

While we also attended community events such as the Goodna Gala day and the Brisbane Tigers Christmas Carols. These events allowed our ambassadors to engage with different members of the community in a different setting.

As we plan for a bigger and better 2025, we’re incredibly proud of the milestones we’ve achieved and the lives we’ve touched. The RISING Community Program remains dedicated to empowering young people, fostering inclusivity, and building brighter futures.
