RISING Easts Joins QRL Country Week in Moranbah with the Brisbane Tigers
The RISING Easts Community Program was proud to team up with the Brisbane Tigers during QRL Country Week in Moranbah — a special round of the Hostplus Cup that takes top-tier rugby league to regional communities across Queensland.
Throughout the week, we engaged with over 500 students and junior players across local schools and clubs, helping to grow the game and promote the Country Round clash between the Mackay Cutters and Brisbane Tigers.
At Moranbah East State School, we collaborated with NRL Game Development Officers and the Mackay Cutters to deliver interactive sessions to students from Years 2 to 6. Over 330 students participated across two days, with many showing off their teamwork and skills and being rewarded with Tigers merchandise, including hats, water bottles, and wristbands.
Over at Moranbah State High School, students took part in fun skill drills before finishing with a high-energy Touch Rugby League game — capped off by a crowd-favourite moment as Brisbane Tigers HPC head coach Matt Church intercepted a pass and scored the game-winning try.
We also visited Moranbah Miners Junior Rugby League, offering support to both coaches and players during their training sessions.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience to collaborate with QRL, the Tigers, and local community groups to support grassroots rugby league. We thank everyone involved for making it such a memorable and meaningful week in Moranbah.
