Term 1- 2025 Recap

July 10, 2025

What a start to the year! The Rising Community program has hit the ground running in 2025 in a school term that had many distractions due to the wild weather. However, this did not stop our Rising Ambassadors from attending 7 schools, 2 community events and engaging with over 400 students through our School Success Program.
The focus for our School Success Program this term was to establish expectations, create positive relationships with students and show students how making small short-term goals each week can help you achieve your long-term goal. It was amazing to see this occur with a large number of students who positively engaged in the program and were able to make changes in their own life whether that for school, sport/exercise or personal growth.
“I feel like I have finally been able to achieve some goals at school, usually I don’t really know what to do but after working with the RISING community program I have been able to put some mini goals in place around being a good student and doing the small things right to help your big goal. Finally, achieving a B in Math was 1 of them” – Year 8 Student @ Woodcrest SC

The Rising Community Program also had the opportunity to attend two events throughout the term. The Brisbane Tigers x Melbourne Storm Rugby League Clinic in February, which was certainly a highlight for the term getting to see over 100 young rugby league players running around Langlands Park on a Friday afternoon. Also, in week 10 attending the Mabel Park SHS Rugby League Academy Year 7 Trial Day which allowed the program to engage with one of the Brisbane Tigers Affiliated Schools. A great day for all the students involved including a sausage sizzle, skill drills, a video session and a gym session.

What an exciting term, we are very grateful to be in the position we are in to engage with a range of students and schools and would like to thank our term 1 schools for an amazing term. We can’t wait to see what term 2 holds!
